Water Softners (2000 range)

The 2000 range includes 5 models of water softner suitable for installation in the home. The choice of unit is dependent on the hardness of the water and the amount of water used.

  • Primary Purpose
To eliminate Limescale from water, either on the incoming main, or on the cold feed to an appliance.
  • Installation Notes
Water softners need to be regenerated periodically. This means the unit needs to installed alongside a drain similar to that used with a washing machine. Water treated by the water softner will contain higher than average levels of sodium (salt) and it is therefore necessary to make sure that at least one drinking water tap in the house is left untreated. It should also be noted that the water softner has a motorised valve head which is powered by a mains electicity supply.
  • Maintenance
The water softner uses sodium (salt) during its backwashing programme. This means that the Brine Cabinet will need to be topped up with salt periodically. As a general rule, the water softner will use approximately 25kg of salt every 6 to 8 weeks depending on the hardness of the water and the amount of water used.
  • Associated Products
To comply with by-laws it is necessary to leave at least one drinking water tap untreated by the water softner. Fitting a filter kit such as the RLK will provide a source of drinking water that will prevent the build up of scale or scum in kettles, beverages and water used for cooking purposes.
